SUMMARY:Solo Exhibit Hedy DuCharme: “My World in Color”
DESCRIPTION:Join us throughout June for “My World in Color”, an exhibition of oil paintings by Colorado Springs artist Hedy DuCharme.\nMeet the artist and other artists on June 18th for our 3rd Friday Outdoor Reception, 3-7 p.m. Hedy’s work will be displayed in the gallery and other artists, vendors and food will be in the parking lot. \nArtist Statement:\n“My interest in art began in High School art classes. I learned that I loved being creative no matter the project. I went on to study art in college at Michigan State University.\nMy favorite period of art is Impressionism with it’s emphasis on expressing a subject with loose brush work, a variety of colors and textures, and with the artists creating their interpretation\nof the subject rather than an exact replica.\nFor years I have been inspired by art history and many great artists from all over the world.\nFrom my travels I’ve had the opportunity to see the great works of Michaelangelo, Leonardo DaVinci, Rembrandt, Corot, , Monet, Manet, Degas, Frankenthaler, Picasso, and Pollack.\nFor 13 years I was a docent at the Colorado Fine Arts Center Museum and expanded my knowledge of art, art history from many different eras and styles that have inspired and motivated me to do more of my own painting.\nHere in Colorado Springs I have had the opportunity to exhibit at Cottonwood Center for the Arts, Commonwheel Coop, The Modbo, The Bridge Gallery, Academy Art and Frame, Chapel of Our Saviour, First Presbyterian Church, Discovery Church, The Colorado Springs Fine Art Center Docent Show, Academy Art and Frame, Pikes Perk North, Pikes Perk Rockrimmon, Hooked on Books, Pikes Peak Marketplace, Sunny Vista Assisted Living Center and in private collections.\nMuch of my subject matter is inspired by the landscape of Colorado year round, and from places I have traveled in New Mexico and Europe.\nPainting is a passion for me and is relaxing and a challenge mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.” \n “Sometimes I put paint on a canvas for hours before I fell like I’m painting.”(HLD)\n
