The Freedom to Be is an exhibition of fine art acrylics and pastels by Colorado Springs artist Jacqueline Pearson. Her work ranges from abstract to expressionism and is quite a beautiful display of color. The exhibit will hang throughout June until July 1, 2017. An artist’s reception will be held 3rd Friday June 16th, 4-8pm. Light refreshments will be served.
Jacqueline was born and grew up in New Orleans the colorful, “Birthplace of Jazz” surrounded by the beauty and history of Spanish and French architecture. She began her artistic journey early in life, pursuing her ambitious dream of becoming an artist while in grade school, by drawing and sketching while the rest of the class was engaged in the “real” studies of the day. As a young adult she had the opportunity to broaden her passion in painting and art history through the teachings of Aileen Worthley, a well known artist in Newport Beach, CA, then at Laguna School of Art. On-going workshops and classes nationwide continue to add valuable experience and joy to her artistic endeavors. For the last 20 years she has lived and painted in Colorado Springs.

Jacqueline considers the expression of texture a tool to reach the viewer’s own level of intellect and enjoys creating dynamic and colorful abstract canvases, portraits and paintings in an expressionistic style. With her abstracts especially, her intention is to invite the viewer to experience the presence of the painting and come away with her/his own interpretation.Her paintings have won numerous awards and have found their way to collectors in the U.S., India and Great Britain. She is a member of the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society, the Colorado Springs Art Guild and the Pikes Peak Pastel Society.
