Artist’s Bio:

Kang Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea, where she earned her BFA in Asian Art and mentored under Master artists, earning many prestigious awards before coming to the US for higher education. After arriving to pursue her graduate studies, she attended UCCS and enrolled in graduate courses in Fine Arts. She later earned her MA degree from the University of Phoenix. She continued to study western techniques including oil watercolor, drawing, sculpture, prints, silk-screen and now pastels. Her passion is to learn and experiment with all art forms. Her belief and practice have been to pass on that knowledge by teaching and mentoring students at UCCS and Pikes Peak State College. She is the founder and executive director of the community-based Sheppard Arts Institute and World Culture Center.

In addition to winning many international and national awards for her art, her paintings are in collections around the world, including locally at the Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum. Kang Lee is a longstanding member of the Colorado Springs Arts community and has been an integral part of several guilds and societies in the Pikes Peak Region including the past president of the Colorado Springs Art Guild and the Pikes Peak Pastel Society. She is the current president of the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society. In recognition of her talents and generosity, the Kang Lee Sheppard Education Studio opened in 2018 at the ENT Center for the Arts.
