Andres is a local photographer working with black and white landscapes. His work will be on display January 2nd thru January 31st. Join us for the 3rd Friday Reception on January 18, 4-8pm to meet Andres and enjoy his beautiful work.
Born in Puerto Rico, Andres moved to New York when he was twelve. As a teenager, Andres met photographer Robert Perkins. He was so inspired by Perkins’ work that he immediately signed up for a photography class. He studied photography in the 1970’s at Theodore Roosevelt HS in the Bronx.
Since that time, Andres has always been immersed in the aesthetics and technical aspects of film. Andres uses the “zone system,” invented by Ansel Adams, which allows him to be very consistent in the quality of the films shadows and highlights.
Andres says, “The expression of Art allows one to be a better human being, to appreciate your surroundings and be part of your community. It enriches your communication with others. It changes you.”
